Purchasing everyday items for your home can add up. Here’s how you can stretch your budget and create homemade products that work.

Homemade Dishwashing Detergent

For this you will need 1 cup borax, 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup citric acid and a 1/2 cup of kosher salt. The kosher salt will act as the scrubbing agent. When rinsing, it is suggested to use vinegar.

Homemade Shaving Cream with Rosemary Mint

This shaving cream has a hint of rosemary and mint to it! For this you will need 1/3 cup shea butter, 1/3 cup virgin coconut oil, ¼ cup sweet almond oil, 10 drops rosemary essential oil and 3-5 drop of peppermint essential oil, depending on how much mint you want in your homemade shaving cream.  In a small saucepan, combine the shea butter and coconut oil on low heat. Be sure to stir until everything is melted. Take off heat and transfer to a heat-safe bowl. Add in the almond oil, rosemary essential oil and the peppermint essential oil.  Mix everything together. Put it in the fridge and let it chill until it becomes solid. Once it is solid, whip it until it is light and fluffy. Store in a cool, dry place in a sealed container.

Homemade Glass Cleaner

This is a really easy and very effective recipe! Mix together 1 cup rubbing alcohol, 1 cup water and 1 tablespoon white vinegar. Keep the mixture in a spray bottle so it is easy to use.

Homemade Hair Conditioner

This is a great recipe that is all natural and really great for your hair! Mix together 1 can coconut milk, 1 tablespoon honey and 1 tablespoon olive oil. Conditioner your hair as you would with a store bought conditioner. Homemade hair conditioner is easy to make and much cheaper!

Homemade Shampoo

This recipe is perfect for getting your hair clean without taking out the natural oils in your hair. Mix 1/4 cup coconut milk, 1/3 cup liquid castile soap, 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E Oil and 20 drops of your favorite essential oil. Mix together and shake well after to be sure that everything is mixed together.

Homemade Wood Cleaner

Use 2 parts olive oil to 1 part lemon juice. It is really easy to make and chances are you have the ingredients at home right now! Be sure to use this mixture with a soft cloth when you apply it to the wood.

Homemade Bubble Bath

There is no better way to pamper yourself than with a bubble bath. In a mason jar, mix together 1 cup clear, unscented dish soap, 2/3 cup liquid glycerin, and 1/4 cup water. Mix together. Homemade Stain Remover

This easy recipe will only take a few minutes to make. Mix together 1 part Dawn dishwashing liquid with 2 parts hydrogen peroxide. Once mixed together, shake well. After it is mixed it is ready to be used!

Homemade Bug Spray

This recipe is great for kids and pets! You will need a spray bottle, water, witch hazel and either peppermint, clove, lavender, lemongrass, lemon, eucalyptus, or tea tree essential oil.  Lemon and eucalyptus essential oil can irritate the skin of young children, so be sure to think of who will be wearing it when you are making it. Create a 50/50 mixture of witch hazel and water. Once mixed, add 15 drops of your choice of oil. If you use on pets, spray a bit on legs, tails and around the collar.

Homemade Produce Cleaner

Mix 2 cups cold water, 1/4 cup white vinegar and 2 tablespoons lemon juice in a spray bottle. Squirt fruits or vegetables 2 or 3 time, let sit for 5 minutes, then rinse with water.
