DIY Racetrack – Create a racetrack! Draw out a racetrack in the driveway or on the sidewalk. You’ll be able to race cars and trucks wherever your track takes you.

Body Outline – Have the kids trace each other as they lie down in different positions.  Then let them be creative as they decorate their people.

Snail Hopscotch – Draw a 12 inch circle on the ground. Draw a large spiral line starting at the circle and spiraling out to look like a snail’s shell. Make 3 or 4 spirals, depending on how large you want it to be. Divide the spirals up and number them.  The kids will have a blast playing hopscotch this way.

Treasure Map – Let the children hide a small treasure in the yard. After, they can create a treasure map out of chalk. Other kids will have to use the map to find the treasure in the yard.

Tic Tac Toe – Create a large tic tac toe board. Use beanbags or rocks as markers.

Chalk Maze – Create a large maze in the driveway or on a sidewalk. The kids then will have to go through the maze by foot, on roller skates or on their bikes.

Chalk Hangman – Who needs paper and a pen when you have pavement and chalk?! This is a great outdoor game to play that will also help kids refresh their spelling skills during the summer.

Chalk Bombs – For this idea, you will need cornstarch, food coloring, balloons and an empty bottle with a pump. Mix a couple of tablespoons of cornstarch and a few drops of color with a cup of water. Fill the pump bottle with chalk paint. Then, make as many balloons as you can. When you are ready, throw your chalk bombs on the driveway or on the sidewalk against pavement. It will create a large splash of color.

Create Stencils – Create stencils out of cardboard of different shapes and sizes. Use chalk to color inside of the stencils to create masterpieces!

Bean Bag Toss – Draw different size circles inside of one another to create rings. Each ring is worth a different amount of points. Throw bean bags at the rings to see who can get the most points.

Let’s Dance – Trace feet in a few different positions, somewhat close together. Turn on the music and challenge each person to dance while keep their feet on the traced positions.

Trace Your Shadow – Trace your child’s shadow at different times of the day to see how it changes size throughout the day. Then note: When is it biggest? When is it smallest? When is it the actual size?
