Neighborhood School promotes social justice and helps children flourish and learn to their full potential. Students learn about themselves, others, and how to form authentic community. Multi-age groupings and co-teaching are models deliberately chosen to support developmental, inclusive learning in the school’s four classroom levels. Co-teachers have an opportunity to develop a two-year relationship with most students. Teachers at NS take advantage of curricular freedom to design a learning environment where children are nurtured to be kind, curious, informed, and literate through experiential, thematic studies led by questions, fueled by research, and framed by reflection. Parents have opportunities to be involved in the life of the school and in the lives of other school families. Neighborhood School is a place where a foundation for lifelong learning is nurtured and where lifelong relationships are often formed. We invite prospective families to join a small group tour, talk with teachers, students, and current families and consider the difference an intentionally small and committed community can make in a child’s life.
