Early Childhood Program
St. Mary’s School has been serving children ages 2.9 through 5 in Pre-Kindergarten since 1992. This school year program begins in September and ends in June. Our program is part of a Catholic school community that includes children in Kindergarten through Grade 8.
The early childhood program is designed with an appreciation for the individual needs of each child by encouraging spiritual, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. In keeping with the Massachusetts Department of Education Curriculum Frameworks, we explore subjects in the areas of science, math, language and literacy, social studies. Students also participate in weekly classes in art, music, library, physical education, and a bi-weekly soccer program. A school uniform is required.
Please note that children in the Early Childhood Program must be toilet trained.
Pre-Kindergarten (PK) is for children age 2.9 by September 1.
Kindergarten 1 (K1) is for children 4 years old by October 15.
Classes are offered in a 3 day or 5 day per week schedule Monday- Friday. Hours for morning classes are 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Full day is 8:00 – 2:15. Supervised early morning drop off begins at 7:30 a.m. Children attending a full day class do have the option of enrolling in the Extended Day Program that is available until 6:00 p.m.
St. Mary’s Elementary program serves students in grades K2 through 8 and builds on a rich tradition of Catholic education. In addition to religious instruction, the school challenges students to gain mastery in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies by fostering inquiry, problem solving and decision making skills. Teachers develop and support awareness of the connections between subjects by providing opportunities for student projects and presentations. We believe the curriculum should be integrated and reflect life’s experiences. All St. Mary’s students are encouraged to work cooperatively with respect for one another as they experience the excitement that accompanies new learning.
The school year runs from September to June and the school day is from 8:00am to 2:25pm with the option of signing up for our Extended Day program which runs daily until 6:00pm.
