The Woodcock Skydance
One of the most unique birds of spring is the American woodcock (Scolopax minor) and it's beautiful mating dance. Each spring, males engage in an elaborate mating ritual in which they slowly fly up in large circles and then fall back to earth like leaves. Upon landing they strut around “Peenting.” Woodcocks require a very specific habitat, and the BNC is lucky enough to have some of that very habitat. Join BNC for a magical evening where you'll learn about and witness a great spring tradition! Registration required.
