South Shore Conservatory’s Creative Arts Therapy Department Open House

About

South Shore Conservatory’s (SSC) Creative Arts Therapies Department invites those who might learn differently or who are looking for adaptive instruction to join them for a Creative Arts Therapies Open House on Sunday, February 25 from 1 to 3 pm at SSC’s Ellison Center for the Arts, 64 St. George Street in Duxbury. Attendees have the opportunity to participate in a variety of creative arts activities offered at SSC, including music, creative dance, and accessible yoga. Music therapists will encourage participants to try their hand at playing drums, participating in a hand chime ensemble, exploring individual lesson opportunities (piano, guitar, voice, drums, other instruments), or by singing along and playing instruments with a group. Yoga instructors are on hand for those hoping to try out yoga positions, stretches, and chants, while creative movement specialists and SSC’s dance therapist will direct participants in moving to music, and utilizing octaband and dance streamers. Designed for those interested in learning more about the creative arts, the open house provides an ideal opportunity for attendees to meet others, have fun, and enjoy refreshments. South Shore Conservatory is committed to being an organization that welcomes the widest range of audience members possible - removing barriers to participation and welcoming everyone in, regardless of ability. Both its Hingham and Duxbury campuses are wheelchair accessible. For more detailed information about accessibility, please visit SSC’s Know Before You Go page. For more information about creative arts therapies or the open house, contact Eve Montague, Director of Creative Arts Therapies at 781-934-2731, x20 or e.montague@sscmusic.org.
