Revels Spring Sing 2025: Here’s to the Green Leaf of Spring returns to Somerville’s Center for the Arts at the Armory to celebrate the Vernal Equinox with live singing and dancing for the whole family to enjoy!
This year’s Revels Spring Sing program includes performances and participatory dancing from a variety of professional musicians and youth performers. Revels Artist-in-Residence David Coffin headlines the event as songleader alongside Revels Music Director Elijah Botkin, leading rousing singalongs of fan favorites like “Wild Mountain Thyme,” “Country Life,” and “Palms of Victory.” Revels Artistic Director Debra Wise leads a witty children’s Pace Egg mummers play, which draws on the traditions of rural England, followed by rapper dancing performed by the teens of Great Meadows Morris and Sword, led by Peter Kruskal. Guest youth dancers from O’Riley Irish Dance, led by Jaclyn O’Riley and Hannah DeRusha; young performers from Duncan Dance, led by Dicki J. Macy; and young performers from the Chinese American Association of Cambridge will bring joyful movement to the afternoon. Audience members will also be invited to get up and dance themselves, with a community contra dance led by caller Don Veino and a live band. And, of course, Revels Spring Sing relies on the voices of its audience members – song sheets will be available online and onsite so everyone can sing along.
