Middle Grade Author Panel: Love and Magic Tour
In celebration of our one-year anniversary, join us to welcome a panel of middle-grade authors on what they're calling their "Luck and Magic" Tour. Local authors Rebecca Caprara, Susan Lubner and Anna Staniszewski have all recently published books that have fantasy elements to them. Rebecca is one of our favorite authors, especially since she hosts our middle-grade book club! Her book, "The Magic of Melwick Orchard", revolves around Isa, who has been forgotten as her family focuses on her sick sister and their frighteningly dwindling finances. But could the old, ravaged orchard on their property hold the key to their future? It'll be up to Isa to find out. Susan's book, "Lizzy and the Good Luck Girl", centers on 12-year-old Lizzy Sherman. Living in the small town of East Thumb, Me., upstairs from her family's diner, Lizzy searches for signs to guide her and perhaps guarantee her a bump-free path through life. When Lizzy and her best friend go searching for a stray cat and find a runaway girl instead, they want to help. And when Lizzy notices a tiny four-leaf clover tattooed on the girl's hand, she knows it's a sign. Lizzy hides the girl inside her bedroom closet, convinced the girl will be able to protect Lizzy's family from tragedy. But signs can be tricky, and what the girl has to offer may be more valuable that luck. Like Rebecca, this will be Anna's second event at our store, as she joined us last year on Independent Bookstore Day. In Anna's latest book, "Secondhand Wishes", which debuted in late January, Lexi has to keep the universe in balance. If she does enough good things, like being on time, then the bad things, like her little brother needing more surgery, won''t happen. It doesn't always work, but she has to keep trying. On an extra bad day, Lexi finds a bag of four wishing stones in the antique shop in town, but these stones have been wished on before, and secondhand wishes come with unexpected consequences! Join us for this awesome middle-grade event to help us close out our anniversary weekend!!!
