Transformers Kids’ Party Ideas and Games
Is your birthday child an autobot or a decepticon? Whatever faction they align with, make sure their birthday party is more than meets the eye! What better way to celebrate than taking a trip to see the newest Transformers: Age of Extinction movie, followed by a Transformers’ birthday party? And check out the link below for our Transformers Pinterest board for more ideas and templates!
Invitations: Make use of Optimus Prime, the most famous transformer, in the invitations! Create or buy Transformers’ invitations shaped like Optimus Prime, and write party details on the back. You can also use the same method, but have the birthday child decide which of his or her favorite Transformers gets to welcome guests to the party.
Autobot fuel: Create a Transformers’ refueling station by serving blue and yellow Gatorade in small jugs on a decorated table.
Meteorites: These no-bake meteorite balls will definitely be a hit! Mix Rice Krispies® cereal with marshmallow fluff, and divide up. Use your hands to roll them into balls, and put in the fridge for 30 minutes. When they are hardened, roll them in cocoa powder or powdered sugar.
Transformers cake pops: Dip cake pops in yellow, blue and red frosting and have guests pick their faction based on their Transformers’ cake pops! Take your pops to the next level; dress them up to look like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee or Megatron!
Shooting stars: Chicken nuggets will take shape as stars! Serve the nuggets with a variety of dipping sauces, such as barbecue, honey mustard or ketchup. You can also buy chicken nuggets shaped like stars or make your own using cookie molds. For the tails of your shooting stars, lay out celery and carrot sticks.
Cake: The sky is the limit with a Transformers’ cake. You could make your cake shaped like the head of the birthday child’s favorite character, or go all-out and make the body as well!
Obstacle course: Get your young Transformers ready to vanquish villains by having them complete a space-themed obstacle course! Have them pretend to put on space suits, and then send them running! Set up balloons and streamers around the room representing asteroids that they have to run through, a play-tunnel dressed up like a black hole, and make use of a scooter by using it as a space ship that players have to ride on.
Bean bag toss: Set up a simple bean bag toss game, but with a Transformers twist! Have an adult explain that to defeat Megatron, guests will have to throw meteorites at him! Use a cut-out picture of Megatron or use your own on your bean bag toss, and allow guests three turns to get their bean bag into his mouth and defeat him.
Party craft: Set out construction paper, glue sticks, stickers, glitter glue, foam shapes and anything else that could be used as a decoration. Instruct each child to create their own Transformer using only the materials on the table. They can either recreate their favorite Transformer or make up their own using their imagination. When they’re finished, have guests share information about their Transformer and what the Transformer can turn into.
Decorations: Buy a space-themed hanging background and hang it from the main room of your party area. Create food stations by lining tables against the background and using plastic black tablecloths as drapes. Use silver plates, cups and utensils. Hang streamers in red, blue, yellow and black, and create stars using the same colors. Place cut-outs of Transformers characters around the party area and have guests pose for photos with them.
Party favors: Send each guest home with their photo and their Transformer creation.
