On the first day of spring as the sun crosses the celestial equator, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), is celebrating Nowruz 2015—The Persian New Year Festival. This annual Museum event gives visitors the opportunity to learn about Persian culture through an array of programming and to experience the holiday through the MFA’s encyclopedic collection. The term Nowruz, meaning new day, has been celebrated for centuries throughout the Persian Empire and is still celebrated around the world. Visitors are invited to explore the diverse cultures and traditions of Iran, examine a “Haft Seen”—a classic Nowruz holiday table—and immerse themselves in musical and dance performances. Hide
