Watching fireflies is a special part of warm summer nights. We watch, we enjoy, but do we really know what they are saying? Don Salvatore of the Boston Museum of Science’s Firefly Watch Citizen Science project will open the doors of discovery into the secret lives of fireflies. You can also learn how to participate in a scientific research effort to find out if these magical insects are disappearing from our landscape, and if so, what can be done to save them. After the presentation we will be taking a guided night walk to observe fireflies and their flashy behaviors. Wearing long pants and bug spray is recommended. Suitable for adults and children ages 8 and up. MAS members $7, nonmembers $9. Blue Hills Trailside Museum, 1904 Canton Avenue, Milton, MA 02186.
