Boston Musica Viva opens its 45th Season with a performance celebrating defiance in art forms. Robert X. Rodriguez’ one-man opera, Tango, explores the controversial craze that swept the world in the early 20th Century despite being banned in Boston, other places, and even by the Pope. Martin Brody’s Scene, from an opera in progress, tells a French medieval tale about a nobleman-turned-werewolf who ultimately has revenge over the betrayal by his wife, and reverses his transformation. Gunther Schuller’s Sonata Serenata, in contrast, honors artistic innovation with an inspired tribute to legendary jazz violinist Joe Venuti. General Admission: $30 | Senior: $25 | Under 35: $20 | Student/Child $10
