Description:

Private lessons are the cornerstone of music education. Brookline Music School welcomes students ages 4 years to adult, with the belief that the right match of student and teacher is vital to a student’s progress, pleasure of learning and enjoyment of music. After an initial consultation, the student is placed with a faculty member whose teaching style most closely complements the student’s learning style and personality. New students are asked to complete a registration form and contact the office to schedule lessons.

Group classes are an excellent way for younger students to take their first steps in music education, and these classes usually lead to private lesson instrument study. Some classes for older students or our Suzuki Group Classes are designed to complement private lessons, so students would take both weekly private lessons and the class. This adds a fun social aspect to learning music that increases motivation and overall enjoyment.

We particularly encourage ages 4-6 to start with a group class so we can get to know your child and assess their readiness for private lessons. Our teachers are all trained in early childhood development and will be able to give guidance on moving to private lessons as well as which instrument might fit your child’s personality best when that time comes.
