Fayerweather’s founders envisioned a school that would seek out innovative, effective ways of educating children, ways that respect each child’s thinking while also valuing the role that families and communities play in their education. This founding vision continues as each generation of teachers, parents and students brings creativity to the task of interpreting and shaping the school in its present context.

Because the school is small, the community close and the faculty highly skilled and caring, we can respond fully to the needs of our diverse student body. Fayerweather students develop confidence in themselves, a mastery of basic skills and a capacity for observation, reflection and interpretive thinking. Our graduates do well as they venture on, joining larger communities and schools (both independent and public) in the metropolitan area.
