Camp Description

SUMMER IN FRENCH FOR CHILDREN

Have your child enjoy a full immersion experience!

Our skilled teachers are native speakers, teach year-round, and are specially trained for our Summer In French program. Our Center has remarkable resources, including the largest private French library in New England and an exciting collection of French films. We are located in the heart of Back Bay and have easy access to playgrounds, museums, and other places of interest and learning in Boston.

SUMMER IN FRENCH FOR TEENAGERS

Students become attuned to the French language in an intensive, educational and age-appropriate environment through linguistic and cultural immersion. Qualified and dynamic native-French instructors teach small classes of 5-10 students ages 13-17 using age-appropriate activities tailored to their specific language needs. The program offers a personalized curriculum at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.

MORNING LANGUAGE PROGRAM

A Comprehensive Approach to Language Acquisition!

Through oral and written comprehension as well as speaking and writing exercises, students acquire the linguistic tools they will need to effectively communicate in a variety of contexts. The program is divided up in three levels, which target the language objectives defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages at levels A1, A2, B1 and B2. Students will learn to form sentence structures based on level-specific grammar and vocabulary, all while discovering francophone culture through French literature, artistic movements, distinctive regional traditions and idiomatic expressions. Interactive class activities and a task-based approach place students at the center of the learning process and effectively take them from oral and written comprehension to speaking and writing. The online placement test can be taken at http://www.alliance-us.org/Merlin/Placement.htm

AFTERNOON CULTURAL DISCOVERY PROGRAM

A Summer of Adventures in French!

Expanding beyond the traditional classroom setting, students explore French through a variety of disciplines – all in immersion. Engaging thematic workshops enable them to understand and create their own work in French. Beginner to advanced students experience French culture through workshops in cooking at French restaurants, studio art, theater, fashion, sports and field trips to museums and galleries. They will meet French artists, learn the basics of French cuisine, discover artistic and architectural movements and create a web journal to remember their trips and workshops!
